How SWAC Works:
As a cooling solution: SWAC uses deep ocean water, found at depths of up to 1,000 meters, to provide natural, continuous cooling. Ideal for islands and tropical areas, it leverages the cold of ocean depths to reduce energy costs and environmental impact.
As a combined cooling and heating solution: For regions needing seasonal heating and cooling, SWAC utilises warmer surface seawater in winter and cooler seawater in summer. Coupled with heat pumps, it offers a year-round solution for comfort, reducing the need for conventional energy.
In all cases, a first closed seawater loop passes through an offshore pipeline up to a heat exchanger in a technical room, which then cools or warms a secondary freshwater network loop that circulates through the buildings. After use, primary seawater, which is never mixed and is left untreated, is returned to the ocean at a safe depth, preserving marine ecosystems.
